We started the day walking around the ancient city of Zadar, stretching back some 2500 years, with a few modern upgrades. One is the Sea Organ that is “played” by sea waves. The water forces air through an intricate series of underwater pipes to produce a haunting discordant sound. The second attraction is called “The Greeting to the Sun.” This is a circular installation of solar panels in the walkway that collect energy during the day and power a small light show after sundown.

Pastor Miroslav and Brian (a long-term missionary from Minnesota) joined us for lunch. Much like Croatian coffee, meals can stretch longer than American standards. It was nice to meet them and plan the remaining time in Zadar. Their missionary friend here on vacation paid our tab without saying a word.

After a short rest in our apartment, Miroslav retrieved us for the 35 minute drive to Biograd na Moru. Seven brothers and sisters in Christ gathered over snacks, praise songs and bible study. Scott shared a message about witnessing, and Ja about Risen Life Church. They had several questions for us regarding science and faith, followed by a lively discussion on masks and COVID.

Pray with us as Miroslav weighs his options regarding a PhD program in divinity. The Baptist Church in Zadar is looking for guidance as they are at the limit of the meeting and parking spaces. The Biograd na Moru group is small, but faithful. They are praying for God’s will and look forward to a church of their own.
